I was pleasantly surprised about how easy to consume the lessons are, the clarity of the lessons and that you do not really need to be an advanced designer to do a template.

- I was interested in this course because I have been thinking about ways to scale my website design business, and selling digital products and templates has a lot of potential. We all want to earn more by working less hours! I wasn´t sure if templates would be for me because I felt they are a saturated market. After the course I feel like selling templates could be a great choice for my business going forward, and also I felt like I had not enough knowledge in order to put such a project together.

- The most helpful parts of the course to me are: the lesson where you create the draft on Sketch (and the lesson where you show how to use Pinterest and other sources to get the inspiration), the whole module where you build the actual template on Showit, and the Marketing lessons. So I guess, that is most of the course!

- I was pleasantly surprised about how easy to consume the lessons are, the clarity of the lessons and that you do not really need to be an advanced designer to do a template.

- If a friend was on the fence about taking this course, I would tell him that it is very easy to understand, inspiring, you do not need technical knowledge and you do not even need to be a certified Showit designer.

- I loved being inspired on the first few lessons, when Krista was putting images together, coming up with colors, patterns and fonts. It made me realise why I decided to become a website designer (…well in the process of becoming…)

I am not a great writer but I have put together a testimonial for you (feel free to tweak or correct my English):

“The DK Design Course is easy to take, the lessons are brief, practical, to the point and clear. It is organised in modules that take you from the inspiration board to the marketing and selling of your templates. Being a brand new course, the DK Design Course is very up-to-date, it explains all the software and tools you need and shows you step-by-step how to do everything you need to do to launch your template shop. I liked the fact that you do not need to be an expert designer or certified by Showit. I have binged-watched the course and you could easily complete it in a matter of days. Krista is great to watch, she seems very experienced and explains the ins and outs of making templates with transparency and honesty. I highly recommend this course to anyone considering scaling their website design business or looking for digital products to sell.”

As a web designer, I've been wanting to find other services I can provide that don't require so much 1-1 client work and can help me scale my business while still having time with my family. Templates were an option that kept coming up, and I was not sure how to get started. I've been following Dave and Krista's IG account and emails which have been such as inspiration for me and when I was offered the opportunity to join the course, I did not think twice about it, especially when Davey and Krista have so much knowledge in the industry and always provide valuable content and resources.

The most helpful part of the course was the step by step of part two on how to build the templates on Showit. Having Krista do the actual build live was very insightful because I got to see each step visually, which made it easier to understand compared to just learning the concepts. I love that Krista not only demonstrated the steps but also explained the reasons behind them. I enjoyed seeing her design process and how she made decisions based on what looks and works best for templates. The second part that was most helpful was the marketing section. Selling can be intimidating, but Krista does a great job breaking down the different ways to market and how she uses each platform in her business with great examples.

I was surprised by the level of detail Krista provided in the course, especially the step-by-step instructions on how to build the templates in Showit and all the options and design techniques within the platform. As a newer Showit designer, I like how user-friendly the platform turned out to be to create and share templates compared to WordPress or Squarespace. I initially thought that building templates for sale would be more complex, but this course makes it easy to understand and it covers all the areas needed to successfully add this as a service.

If a friend were on the fence about taking this course, what would you tell them?

I would tell them that if they're considering it, they should definitely go for it! The course offers a comprehensive guide to building Showit templates, with clear instructions and helpful insights and resources that makes the template creation process easy. I believe that whether they are a beginner like me or have some experience with website design, they will gain the confidence they need to create and sell templates on Showit. Now all I have to do is decide when to start 🙂

Is there anything else we should know?

Yes, I'd like to mention that the course material was well-organized and easy to follow, which made the learning experience enjoyable. Krista was very detailed and provided great additional resources. I also loved that she showed us how to design the template in Sketch and the programs and sites she uses in her business.

Before taking Davey & Krista's course, I was interested in creating a passive source of income for myself by selling Showit website templates; however, I had no idea where to start. During their course, I learned exactly how to create ShowIt design templates, the requirements to be a design partner on Showit, and how to sell the templates on my website, as well as key aesthetic design tips. Their course is comprehensive and easy to follow, which was very important to me since I'm new to web design. If you're interested in adding a great source of passive income to your business, I highly recommend taking their course. It will quickly set you up for success and teach you exactly what you need to know about selling ShowIt website templates.

I am newer to Showit but am fully obsessed with how easy it is to make designs come to life . I love all of Davey + Krista's templates and was interested in this course because I'm overwhelmed just thinking about how to create and sell templates. Ultimately, I wanted to take this course from D+K because I KNEW they have a ton of experience with template creation in Showit and they only offer high-quality courses and products.

So far, the most helpful part of this course has been cart setup. I didn't even think about the fact that Showit doesn't have eComm capabilities. I LOVE that Krista walks you through multiple ways to set up your shop, instead of just showing you what works for her. Most courses only show you what they've done and assume it will be the best for you. Krista gives you all the knowledge and then lets you decide and I can't tell you what a breath of fresh air that is! I also really loved being able to look over her shoulder as she chose design inspiration and created a mockup. Listening in as she made design decisions actually helped me feel like less of an imposter. I'm self-taught and found myself having the same trains of thought as Krista. I didn't expect to find self-confidence while taking this course but I found it!

I was expecting guidance on building templates in Showit but I was not expecting incredible tips and tricks for building a killer website in general. I feel like I have so much more knowledge about best practices for website design and learned some new ways to do things within Showit! And the extra modules on selling, marketing, creating screenshots, gathering leads! This course is ROBUST.

If a friend were on the fence about taking this course, what would you tell them?

Omg get off that fence! I would recommend this course for anyone even considering offering templates later down the road. Krista walks you through how to build a quality website within Showit (applicable even if you're only designing for yourself or custom clients at the moment) as well as how to sell your templates, choose a shop platform, marketing and how to navigate potential roadblocks. They thought of it all and boy, do they deliver.

Is there anything else we should know?

Will you be editing or re-recording the videos? The audio sometimes got really quiet and there were some repeat sentences. My assumption was just that this was the rough draft and you would go back and edit but wanted to make sure you're aware. Also, I'm wondering how payment works when Showit has sales. Do they pay you a percentage of the sale price or do they still give you the full amount and discount the sale from their percentage? Do you have pricing recommendations for templates, maybe based on how robust they are? Those are the only questions I still have after getting through 90% of the course!

“Not so far! My mind is blown that you keep adding to the course based on student questions. That is awesome.”

Also, I LOVE the course. It was such a huge value. I love how thorough it is, and how well you explain things and walk through in detail. I have definitely been through design courses that had big promises (and big price tags) but very little meat to the course, and it is SO frustrating. But I'm so glad I took the plunge and invested in yours!

I kept redoing pages, playing with the design and when I decided to move to Showit, I fell in love with the ease of designing.

My name is Anna and I am located outside Charlotte NC. I am primarily a motherhood photographer but I have dabbled in website design for what seems like forever. It started before I became a photographer but really took root when I started making my own photography website. I kept redoing pages, playing with the design and when I decided to move to Showit, I fell in love with the ease of designing. Showit is like a breath of fresh air. No complicated code (unless you want to) and making mobile look like you want, well that’s just heaven.

A couple of years ago I wanted to start having additional income so I started offering template customization which led to a new side brand from my photography. Then I thought it would make sense to offer templates to photographers which is a niche I’m already familiar with so when this course popped up it was a no brainer. It would finally kick me in gear to create templates the right way. To learn how to set everything up step by step was so helpful in the course.

My favorite module in the course is watching Krista design a mockup home page. I am a visual learner so that was invaluable. I have watched it multiple times.

I’d highly recommend the course to anyone wanting to learn how to create and set up templates the right way from the start. There were a lot of little things that I didn’t know about when making my own website that I now know and can feel confident that I would deliver a quality template that will convert. Krista is an open book and shares freely about color choices, font pairings, her thought process on how to bring a design to live.

I've been transforming the essence of an artist into visually stunning and emotionally compelling narratives for nearly two decades.

Girl, I BINGED that course. It was super helpful.

1. Tell us about yourself. How did you get started in design?

I'm Renee, the lead designer at Arc Design Haus. I specialize in minimalist, story-driven brand identities and Showit websites for fine art photographers and creative professionals. I've been transforming the essence of an artist into visually stunning and emotionally compelling narratives for nearly two decades. I always joke that I didn’t choose my niche—it chose me! I was torn between pursuing photography or design at art school, so I ended up studying both. Now, I specialize in branding for photographers. Talk about the perfect fit!

Reflecting on how I got started in design, I realize there's always been a little designer in me, waiting to break out. One of my favorite childhood memories that hinted at my future in design was a sixth-grade project where we were tasked with designing a cereal box. While most kids focused on the artwork, I went a step further—I included a toy inside the box. Even back then, I was thinking about the entire user experience. I was the only one in the whole grade who put a toy inside. It was this early fascination with design and creativity that eventually led me to pursue a career where I could blend visual storytelling with functional art.

2. Why did you decide to purchase the template course?

I bought your Showit template course because I've primarily been a custom designer throughout my career. I was curious to 'fact-check' my knowledge against industry standards and see how well my skills translated into template design.

3. Which module was your favorite and why?

My favorite module in the course was undoubtedly the one where I got to see Krista design in Sketch. I've always been fascinated with workflows, and watching her process in action was incredibly insightful. It’s always enlightening to see how other talented designers approach their craft!

4. If someone was on the fence about joining the course, what would you tell them?

If someone was on the fence about joining the course, I’d tell them, ‘Just do it!’ There’s virtually no risk involved. The insights you'll gain are invaluable, and your initial template sales alone will more than pay for the course at its current price point.

5.

I can't think of anything! I feel like you covered everything. Heck, we even got an SEO course as a bonus!

It's tough to choose a favorite module, and as much as I loved seeing Krista create a template page by page in the "Building in Showit" module, my favorite module was probably "Developing Designs to Sell".

Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get started as a designer (or what made you interested in design)?

My name is Liz Houston, and I just started getting into web design about a year and a half ago. Previously I had been teaching computer science and ESL for about 15 years and just knew I was ready for a change. When I was working on a website for my new online tutoring and music lesson business, I realized I would actually rather spend my time making websites for people, especially now that so many people are starting their own online businesses. I don't really have formal training in design, but it interests me, and I look forward to learning more.

Why did you decide to purchase the designer course?

Purchasing the course was one of my more spontaneous decisions, but I'm so glad I did! After seeing an ad on Facebook about creating and selling Showit templates, I signed up for a free event with Krista and Davey. In the back of my mind, I knew that I wanted to get into making templates for people some day. I like working with people who are newer to business, and offering templates is a way to help meet people where they're at, even if they're not ready to work with a professional designer just yet. Despite having no experience with Showit, I was quickly able to see that I specifically wanted to create templates for people in Showit (rather than in WordPress or Squarespace where I have more experience with client sites) because of the ease of sharing, editing, and maintaining the template and site- not to mention the beautiful design possibilities with Showit!

Which is your favorite module and why?

It's tough to choose a favorite module, and as much as I loved seeing Krista create a template page by page in the "Building in Showit" module, my favorite module was probably "Developing Designs to Sell". When I've taken web design/development courses in the past, there's actually been relatively little emphasis placed on design. This module really went into how to find creative inspiration and how to enhance your site with fonts, color, and images. Learning about the difference between designing for templates vs. designing for client sites was also really interesting!

If someone was on the fence about joining the course, what would you tell them?

The course has so much behind-the-scenes stuff that can really help you get going if you've dreamed of selling Showit templates. I've been blown away at the amount of support that Krista and Davey have provided in addition to the course itself. There's a Facebook group where we can ask questions and get feedback, and there are Zoom Q&As to go over all things Showit and SEO. I also appreciate that our questions can be used to help guide future content, from course lessons to podcast episodes.

I really liked hearing about how you support and nurture customers with emails, training videos, social media shout-outs, etc. and I'd love an even deeper dive into what you do after people purchase templates from the shop- truly any tidbits you're able to share are so valuable!

I finally started to get back into my passion for this about 3 years ago with Wordpress and divi.

I’ll try to keep it brief lol. I have always been interested in computer science/coding & web design and when time came for college I was deciding between that and pharmacy. Pharmacy won and I currently work for a pharmaceutical company. I finally started to get back into my passion for this about 3 years ago with Wordpress and divi. I found it challenging and very time intensive to learn so honestly didn’t get very far. Then Becca Luna’s marketing came across my feed lol. I had never heard of showit before but her marketing convinced me to give it a try. And I love it!

I really started taking this more seriously and started learning a lot about branding, marketing, and of course web design in showit the past 11 months. I had my second baby in October so that plus the fact that I’m working full time but only have part time child care has slowed me down in my progress 🤪 but I’m chipping away and will reach my goals soon. I had watched many of your YouTube tutorials before and when I saw you were launching a course I decided I was going to buy it before I even read your sales page lol. And it has beyond exceeded expectations! I’m so grateful to get a behind the scenes look into a true designers methods and mind. This course has answered a lot of my questions and taught me things I hadn’t even considered. Maybe you guys talked about the live q&a’s and fb group on your sales page (I basically skimmed it bc I already knew I was buying haha) but that was a pleasant surprise to me to see how involved you guys are after course purchase. I haven’t made the q&a’s live but watch it after when it’s recorded and love hearing others questions and your thorough answers.

Anyways I don’t want to ramble too much but I’m so grateful for this course and it has taught me so much. My progress is that I’ve narrowed down my niche and have outlined my template about halfway so I need to get that done then start working on it in showit. I already have noted what lessons I want to rewatch when I get to that point.

Oh and by the way this email account was made when I still had my maiden name but my married last name is also Jones! My business name is Brittany Jones Creative ☺️

I’d be happy to be included as a student highlight. I’m not sure if you need completed work to be highlighted but with how slow things move around here it might be a while longer till I am done with my first template.

Hi Krista,

I attended the Designer Q&A last week and I just wanted to reach out to personally thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with all of us. The information and resources that you share is extremely helpful and I cannot wait to start creating my templates.

I also wanted to thank you for introducing me to TeuxDeux! (I don’t recall if you talked about it in the Q&A or if it was in one of the resource links during the chat) I’ve tried basically all of the project management sites (Trello, ClickUp, Asana) and this is my FAVORITE! I love how you can customize the different lists, easily move tasks around, etc. in an easy to view platform!

I just want to say that you all knocked the How to Create & Sell Showit Templates course out of the park! Krista, the amount of value you packed into all of the lessons is amazing! Not only do you record a great lesson, but you provide more resources in text format for different learning styles. And you are clearly an expert in our field of design.

I feel like I buy so many courses and programs only to be disappointed in the expensive price tag and the lack of resources and valuable lessons. This is definitely not the case for your course.

I just want to thank, Jesus and Krista Jones and her other half for putting this course together. It really gave me the courage to build and launch my template shop and I really believe this is one of the stepping stones that will help provide my family with financial freedom!

Within the first few days that I launched my template shop I had secured a client for another project that is more long term and she didn’t haggle my prices. I secured a discovery call who loved one of my templates and is now a client! And if that wasn’t super cool, I also woke up to a sale for one of my courses.

I launched my shop with 3 templates because I just wanted to get it out there. One is a full site the 2 others were one pagers

I’m thankful because I’m learning more of what designs appeal to my audience and ideal clients yay!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I’m so thankful and grateful. One of the best investments I’ve made and I was so scared to take the leap. I’m so glad I did.

But the problem was, I fell in love with branding and website design so much when doing my own, that I spent more time on that (constant updates, necessary of course haha) instead of client sessions.

I started my photography business in 2014 and I loved it. But the problem was, I fell in love with branding and website design so much when doing my own, that I spent more time on that (constant updates, necessary of course haha) instead of client sessions. I quickly pivoted my business and started out as a designer.

I’ve been a brand and website designer for about 10 years and I’ve got a lot of experience. Although I had worked with Showit before, I mostly designed websites on WordPress and I was getting so tired of client work and the tech headache that came from it.

When I saw Davey and Krista’s Showit templates course, I knew it was my chance to finally take control over my design business—taking on less clients and having more design freedom. As a homeschooling mum with disabilities, creating a business that gives me more breathing is essential.

I found the course detailed but easy to follow. If you’re like me and you have a lot of web experience, you’ll still find a ton of value in this course. But if you’re new, it’s not overwhelming and you’ll be able to action it quickly.

While the course was amazing, what’s better is that Krista and all of the D&K team are the most sincere and kind team I’ve known. They’re so generous with their knowledge and they always go above and beyond to support their students. Unlike a lot of course creators, they genuinely want fellow creatives to succeed.

So if you’re thinking about joining the course, you won’t regret it! I’d recommend it wholeheartedly.

I recently completed the Template Creation course offered by Davey & Krista, and I can't express how positive my experience has been. The modules are easy to follow, and I appreciate the flexibility of being able to progress at my own pace. Davey and Krista are fantastic; they are always willing to answer any questions and provide support for their posts, tutorials, videos, and more. I have learned so much from this course that I even decided to purchase another one they were offering. I make it a point to join their monthly calls whenever I can, and if I'm unable to attend, they provide playback recordings. Overall, the experience has been both wonderful and educational! I highly recommend it.

Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get started as a designer (or what made you interested in design)?

My name is Jennifer, and I've been a graphic designer for over {15} years now. I've worked in the newspaper and marketing sectors throughout my career. I started freelancing in {2020} during the pandemic while managing a full-time job. My passion for design and creativity has always been a part of me, particularly in party planning. My boyfriend and I have been together for {11} years and have a blended family of {5} kids. I love making their birthdays special each year with unique themes!

Why did you decide to purchase the designer course?

One thing I am really proud of is that during the beginning of my freelancing career, I was asked to design a website for a local bridal salon. I came across Showit because of some examples the salon owner shared with me, and I took it upon myself to learn the platform and create the entire website for her. It turned out beautifully! I loved the process so much that I decided to create my own personal website using Showit. As I explored different aspects of the program, I discovered Davey and Krista on YouTube, and I really enjoyed the tips they shared. This inspired me to invest in my learning and give it a try.

Which is your favorite module and why?

I enjoyed all of the modules, but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be the Animation Masterclass! It was fascinating to see the various options for creating modern animations using the Showit platform. I appreciated all the information that was shared; it was incredibly helpful and insightful.

If someone was on the fence about joining the course, what would you tell them?

I would definitely encourage them to invest in themselves and their learning because it was definitely informative, helpful, and worth the purchase.

I believe that having more detailed information on SEO, as well as on labeling, organizing photos, texts, and layers, would be very beneficial. While there was some content on these topics, an in-depth version would be really helpful.

It’s super beginner friendly, packed with LOTS of details, amazing resources, and I love that the modules include both video and text (plus the comment section is such a nice touch!).

As a full-time stay-at-home mom, the thought of going back to a 9–5 job honestly made my stomach turn. I wanted something that would let me be present with my son while also letting me tap into my creative and techy side. I spent months researching online, hoping to find the thing that felt right... and then I stumbled on Davey & Krista’s free masterclass back in 2024.

The second it ended, I hit purchase on the “Design + Sell Showit Templates” course. It just clicked. I used to design blog sites on Blogspot for fun back in the day, so the idea of becoming a Showit Web Designer felt like coming home in the best way.

I’ve loved every single video in the course. You can feel how much thought, energy, and care Krista and Davey put into each lesson. It’s super beginner friendly, packed with LOTS of details, amazing resources, and I love that the modules include both video and text (plus the comment section is such a nice touch!). On top of that, Krista ALWAYS respond back to every comment!

Honestly, I don’t have a favorite module because I truly loved them all. Krista explains everything in such a clear, structured way! I already have another course from them in my cart because I just know it’s going to be worth every bit of my time and money. I’m still in the planning phase of my business, but with your courses, I feel supported and confident that when I finally launch later this year… I’ll be more than ready.

I have taken quite a few courses from other mentors, but Davey & Krista's truly stand out. The value-packed details, the way they communicate, the thought they put into each lesson... it’s just on another level. SO WORTH THE MONEY AND TIME! Everything about their courses feels so intentional and aligned to my vision, and honestly, so worth it.

If there’s one thing I wish could be improved, it would be the Facebook community. I’d love to see it be a little more active and engaging, more conversations, more connection. It would be amazing to have that added layer of support alongside the courses from other members! But that's not on Davey & Krista.

I’ve been drawn to website design ever since I designed my own site and started helping friends with theirs. When Krista launched her course on how to sell Showit templates, I knew right away it was for me. It felt like the perfect next step.

I wanted to build a business centered around designing and selling Showit website templates but didn’t know where to begin. Krista lays out everything in a clear, practical way. All the modules are packed with value, and the bonuses go above and beyond. One of my favorite parts is the Building in Showit module - it’s so helpful to see how Krista builds her templates! The insight she shares throughout the course is something you don’t find in typical trainings. This course is truly thoughtful, detailed, and based on real experience.

If you’re thinking about starting a website template business and want someone to guide you through the actual “how,” this is the course. It’s hands-down the best investment I’ve made.

Ideas on what to include in the future:

I would love a monthly website audit/feedback submission opportunity! It would be cool if Krista did them privately via Loom OR if she did them as a live class so we can learn from others. Either way it would be an amazing value add!

Also I would love a lesson (or module!) about what creates good website design according to Krista since she’s been doing this for years and is so skilled at what she does. As a non-design degree website designer, I would find this super insightful! More design basics for non-designers would be useful to me.

The bonuses alone were worth the price of the course, plus the freebies that Krista so graciously gives us in this group.

I 100% agree! I bought a Showit course earlier last year from another business for around the same price (but with no bonuses). The lack of structure made it hard for me to follow along, so I didn’t finish it. However, this course has been soo amazing! The bonuses alone were worth the price of the course, plus the freebies that Krista so graciously gives us in this group. Prayerfully, I will launch my template shop at the end of this month. I’m so thankful for finding this!

I know this is long, but feel free to mix and match whatever you’d like from this!

I bought a Showit course from another business early last year for around the same price (with no bonuses), but the lack of structure made it hard to follow, and I didn’t finish it. On the flipside, Davey and Krista’s Design and Sell Templates course has been amazing! It’s clear, actionable, and thoughtfully organized. The bonuses alone were worth the price.

I also love that they host regular live calls focused on design and SEO, where you can ask questions and get direct feedback. That kind of access is rare and incredibly valuable.

Another thing I really appreciate is how they continue to add new content and resources to the course. Krista is so generous with the freebies she shares in the Facebook group too. That ongoing support could easily be sold as an add-on, but instead, it’s just included, which speaks volumes about their desire to help.

I’m an event designer with no formal web or graphic design training. The events industry can be very demanding and high stress. So, I was looking for something where I could still design and be creative but not be so burned out; still do events but not have to do so many. What started as me simply looking for a way to earn some supplemental income has turned into something so much bigger. Now, I feel deeply called to help new and emerging businesses build strong, beautiful brands. This course didn’t just give me the tools to launch a template shop, it helped me step into a whole new purpose.

I’m planning to open my branding template and design shop called Sundae Bar in June, and I’m so thankful I found this course. I’ve realized the best courses come from people who are still actively doing the work. Davey and Krista are still designing templates, working with SEO strategy, and taking on clients. It makes their teaching feel authentic and credible because you’re able to see firsthand that what they teach actually works. That real-life proof gives me so much more confidence as I apply it to my own business.

I joined the course because I’ve followed Davey & Krista’s business for years and knew they truly understand what it’s like to build something from the ground up. I was new to Showit at the time, but Krista’s lessons gave me the confidence and clarity I needed. The course covers everything—what makes a great site, content planning, typography, color, image sourcing, and even step-by-step setups for three ecommerce platforms.

What really stood out was Krista’s dedication. She offered personal, constructive feedback on my designs and made me feel genuinely supported. If you’re a designer ready to dive into Showit templates, this course is the perfect place to start.

I meant to add that I keep coming back to your course over and over again to reference instructions or for inspiration. I've never done that with a course before. This is like a web designer's dream toolbox.
