— who do you typically serve and what type of projects do you love working on?
I work with down to earth creatives across a variety of industries, especially wellness brands, bloggers, and photographers. Template customizations are my signature service, and I love seeing the transformation that occurs as we go from the template to a website that feels unique to my client. I’ve completed many template customizations, both through Maya Palmer Designs and white label for other Showit designers.
My favorite projects are the ones that have a lot of heart behind them, I love getting to know more about my clients business’ and supporting them as they impact their communities.
Who was this client and what problems was their old website causing for their business?
(Examples: attracting the wrong inquiries, low bookings, confusing messaging, outdated visuals, not ranking on Google, etc.)
Halea is an incredibly talented wedding and family photographer who actually used to be a manager for a wedding venue–so she understands the industry deeply. After thriving off of word of mouth, she came to me to get her first brand and website. The goal was to elevate her online presence so that she can book more luxury weddings, and integrate both family and wedding photography seamlessly into her brand. As a mom, family photography has become even more important to her. I also wanted to create a strong foundation for her SEO so that she can be found on Google, since this is something that she wasn’t leveraging before without a website.
What made you choose the template specifically for this client? What about the layout or structure made it a good strategic fit?
She actually had already selected this template when she reached out to me! But I loved the La Pelosa template for her because it blended the artsy and editorial vibes so well. The layout was clean and flexible, which was great for adapting to Halea’s needs.
What was your client’s response when they first saw the site?
What parts were they most excited about?
Halea was overjoyed when she saw the website–the fact that this was her first site made it extra special! She was most excited about the way that her photography was prominently showcased throughout, and how the branding, wording, and imagery all came together to make the website feel like her.
Since launching, what results has the client experienced?
Numbers are especially helpful if available (bookings, inquiry quality, revenue, higher packages, less ghosting, better leads, etc.).
I don’t have any data-based results for this launch, unfortunately. We ended up doing a soft launch rather than a big event announcing the website.
If another designer was considering customizing a template for a similar client, what would you tell them?
Davey & Krista’s templates are top-notch! I’ve worked with several over the years, and I am always inspired by the creative layouts and polished aesthetics. I use the template as a strong foundation, and also insert my own ideas based on what the layout inspires. Having that flexibility is so nice.
