I’m Mackenzie Ryan, a portrait photographer based in Nashville, TN. My journey began in the suburbs of Los Angeles, where I first developed a love for visual storytelling. After graduating from UC Berkeley with degrees in Sociology and Film Theory, I made the move to Nashville in 2019, eager to immerse myself in the vibrant creative scene.

As I honed my craft, I discovered a passion for capturing weddings and family moments, which blossomed alongside my work in the music industry. In 2021, I took the leap to go full-time with my photography business, and I haven’t looked back since! My background in sociology and film enriches the way I connect with clients and tells their unique stories.

Outside of photography, I enjoy reading, painting, and watching movies—all of which fuel my creativity. I recently married my college sweetheart in 2023, which has deepened my appreciation for capturing love stories. One of my favorite features of my new website is the landing page that allows me to attract clients for both my music photography and my wedding and family work. It truly reflects my journey and passion for what I do!

I decided to redesign my website because the one I had been using since 2019 no longer reflected my business or the image I wanted to project to potential clients. Initially, I struggled to create a website that looked aesthetically pleasing on my own. After hearing about Showit on a podcast, I explored their templates and loved what I found. I wanted something timeless and elegant, so I kept searching until I discovered the Davey and Krista templates. I instantly fell in love with the Rosemary template and purchased it right away. Building my new website felt motivating, and I knew it would elevate my professionalism.

My favorite part of the new website is definitely the blog! It's user-friendly and perfect for sharing galleries and stories with my clients. Each couple has a unique love story, and I finally have a platform to showcase that. My previous website didn’t have a blog because I struggled to set it up, but the Davey and Krista template made it easy.

I chose a Davey and Krista template because they are incredibly easy to use, which was crucial for someone like me who isn’t a website-building expert and they are absolutely beautiful. Having a visually appealing and organized site has helped enhance my professionalism without the stress of trying to build everything from scratch. Plus, I felt like I saved money by using this template instead of hiring a web designer, allowing me to focus more on my photography business.

Have you noticed any differences in your business since your launch?

Since launching my new website, I’ve definitely noticed a boost in inquiries and bookings. Just the other day, I received five inquiries for wedding services in 2025 within a 24-hour period—my highest number yet! It’s exciting to see that the clients reaching out are increasingly aligning with my vibe and aesthetic, which makes me feel confident that we can work together to showcase their weddings in a beautiful and authentic way. Knowing that my website effectively reflects my work and passion has made a significant difference, and I’m eager to see how this momentum continues to shape my business moving forward!

Prior to starting my photography business, I spent years taking photos of cars, sunsets, and trains, all while pursuing a career in Actuarial Science (tons of math). Fast forward a couple of years into my Actuarial Science career, I realized I truly wanted to explore this creative passion in photography. So, I played around with a professional grade camera I bought (Sony A73) and did tons of street photography, before trying my hand at wedding photography!

Honestly, I wanted more control over the design process, as well as to display an elegant website that resonated well with my ideal clients.

Wow, great question. Hmm, there's so much to choose from! But, what comes to mind is the overall flow of it. It feels like I'm bringing my ideal client through a careful and deliberate story that will keep them captivated.

Blame the r/weddingphotography subreddit, haha. I spent some time researching ideal wedding photography templates, since I wanted to create it (from a helpful starting point) and all roads pointed to Davey nad Krista. So, I checked out the site and knew investing in a Davey & Krista template would be worthwhile!

Not yet, but I believe it's due to the fact that I recently launched the new site. However, this site has emboldened my self confidence in my business and my work, because it finally reflects everything I've envisioned my business, Alex James Photography, to be!

I fell in love with family photography after our daughter was born. I bought a DSLR camera, hoping to take photos that felt a little more special than just quick iPhone snaps. The more I played around with it and learned, the more I realized how much I loved capturing those sweet, meaningful moments—not just for us, but for other families too.

I decided to redesign my website, because my business had outgrown my DIY website. I was looking for a space to showcase my ever-evolving business and brand.

My favorite thing about my new website is how it perfectly blends professionalism with a personal touch. I also love how easy it is to update and tweak things as my business continues to grow.

I chose a Davey and Krista template after spending countless hours watching their YouTube videos on branding and website design. Honestly, they’re the reason my DIY website was as successful as it was! So when it came time to level up and invest in a new template, choosing them was an easy decision.

I’ve definitely seen a difference in my business since launching my new website! I updated it in October, and I’ve already received 4x more inquiries than usual for the new year. The best part? I was able to confidently raise my prices and scale back on the number of sessions I take on, all thanks to the value my new website communicates.

I’m Adara, a St. Louis based wedding photographer who’s passionate about capturing emotive, legacy-filled images for joyful couples. My photography journey started as a creative outlet when I had my son over 9 years ago. I had always loved taking photos and when I had him, I thought that was the perfect excuse to buy my first camera. Eventually I started taking pictures of my family and friends, then others and eventually weddings! Over time, I realized photography was more than just a hobby, it was a calling. I’ve always been drawn to storytelling, and the idea of preserving once-in-a-lifetime memories for generations to come is what inspired me to grow my business into what it is today.

Earlier this year, I knew I wanted my brand to reflect the heart of my work which is legacy, emotion, and a high-end but welcoming experience. My old website no longer represented the direction I was taking my business, especially as I was stepping into a more luxury market. Redesigning allowed me to create a space that truly speaks to my ideal couples, showcases my work in a refined way, and invites people into the experience I want them to feel when working with me.

My favorite part is the way it feels when you land on the homepage. It’s warm, intentional, and beautifully designed, which immediately communicates my brand values. I also love that it’s so user-friendly. Couples can quickly learn about who I am, see real weddings I’ve photographed, and easily get in touch. It feels like a true reflection of both my artistry and my heart to serve.

I chose Davey and Krista because your templates are designed with both strategy and beauty in mind. I didn’t just want a site that looked pretty, I wanted one that would also help me connect with the right clients and elevate my online presence. Your templates are modern, customizable, and built with photographers in mind, which made it easy for me to showcase my portfolio while also creating a seamless client experience. My first website was one of your templates, then I switched to another template company and when rebranding early 2025, I went back to Davey and Krista. It just made sense :).

Yes! Since launching my new website, I’ve seen a noticeable shift in the type of inquiries I’m receiving. They are more aligned with the couples I truly want to serve. I also booked my highest wedding package shortly after launching, which was such an encouraging confirmation that my rebrand was resonating. Beyond numbers, the confidence I feel when sending someone to my site is a big difference in itself. It finally feels like my online presence matches the heart and quality of my work.

I also want to give a shout out to my coach, Teresa Williams. Teresa is a Chicago based photographer and I was doing a 6 month coaching with her during my time rebranding. She helped me every step of the way with building out my new site, looking at copy, and helping me choose formats and flows of the website. She was an extremely incredible resource in addition to everything the template provided when working on my site.

Thank you for considering highlighting my site and you guys keep being great in what you offer! Hoping to get the album guide next :) I have bought the engagement guide, investment guide and wedding guide and also a branding kit. Huge Davey and Krista fan.

I had been into photography since I was a kid. After college I was a corporate pilot for around 15 years. During that time I would take photos of live music as a way to get into clubs and concerts and also to enjoy photography. That led to doing album covers, then events, then some families, and then people asking for wedding photography.

My site was old and needed a refresh to bring it up to 2025 standards, including UX. It also wasn’t fully reflective of my style and taste.

The UX is very nice, and I’m especially happy with the very nice use of fonts!

It’s clear it was made by someone who understands website design and specifically website design for the target demographic of someone in 2025 who is getting married. It’s a beautiful design, and that goes without saying. But it has to be functional for the core audience, and Davey & Krista do this perfectly!

I find that on calls, the focus is really on just closing the connection. The website UX has done its job in educating the client. They understand the photos, the style, who I am, what to expect - so that the initial call really is more about their specific wedding and deciding which package makes sense for them.
